Description

This is a bust I am hoping to include in my new demo reel. I'm at a loss for what kind of color map to go with so suggestions for possible reference is welcome. I am also looking for any general critique on the model itself.

Looks good. The ear I know it is a reptile ear. but I think most of them are concave and there is often an outer and an inner ridge. Excellent model and woudl love to be able to sculpt like that.

Outer and inner ridge noted and filed away. I will go back in and fix that. Thanks!

He looks really cool - what ever happened to the Binrai 9spelling problem)? As far as color goes, I think a greenish/gray with some bright red spotting towards the back of the head for the males would be interesting. I'm kind of curious to see what the rest of the body would look like. Do they have webbed hands? The eyes are good - but need some color. Overall its a very original creature. Good job.

Kool Zeebrushin' and character, it seems water based to me, so some frog type texture would be a good place to start ! Good luck & ~Cheers~ :o)

Thanks. The Binrai is being remade from the ground up. The files I had were lost and someone was kind enough to give me a copy of an early one I had done but now that I can do it with more detail, I figured I may as well. It's going to be one of my demo reel models so you'll see it soon. Thanks everyone. Frog texture was something I was thinking but there are so many!

Excellent model, I thing colout/texture wise you should go for something like one of the tropical frog species (can't remember the names but they are bright greens/ reds/ blues/ yellows or orange with all sorts of markings)

I'm really liking the form here. As for the color, hmmm... I'm thinking something aquatic as well... what popped into mid was something along the lines of the Abe Sapien character from the film Hellboy. Would go well with the sculpting you've done to the figure.

Damn man, that is sweet looking. I am heading down that road myself film and VG, you have some awsome skills. To me it kinda looks like a cross between a Salamander/Newt and A Tortoise. Perhaps a sampling from both? Use the amphibian tones with the tortoise Skin texture? I definately look forward to seeing where this beasty goes, because that is definately something I would love to have in my own collection. (yes I realise it probably wont be but I can dream!)

Outstanding... might be cool to have it almost translucent with a layer of veins and arteries underneath. Very interesting and incredibly detailed.
