Was experimenting with some high-res texture maps from nasa and came up with this.

Interesting.. But wait a minute! Who's mad at the North Pole?!?? heh heh Anyway, very effective and well done.. Considering the proximity of the moon to the Earth, I'd think maybe the reddish glow might be more toward the viewer's perspective than you have it, but that's a minor niggle..
