Nice idea with the caverns would be interesting to explore. would be nice if mojoworld had some GI. Maybe if it's possbile to tie a light to the camera and go down. good work.

...Ironically I did add a few point lights in the cave with reds & yellows & used some red underlighting in Vol as if to create lava heat reflecvtions but it looked "naff" :) Thanks for the comments :)

Like this looking down a massive hole perspective ! Some great overhangs here too. Making real progress now Woz, this isosurface is very nicely textured with some nice variation and sedimentary look.

Very nice terrain features. BTW, you have "Light from side" and"Light from below" which could be driven with teature of FG, so you don`t need no point lights:)

Nice work on the mats. That extra detail always makes a difference. Yeah, dark shadowed areas are always a problem with CG. Shadows are never great in any app even with GI but one thing I found recently by fluke is that if your renders are quite light toned it seems to be much easier to adjust levels in post and get better darker areas. By the way, I use this app called Lightzone. Not free on Windows or Mac but free on Linux. It's basically a RAW photo editing app with great realtime editing. Very very easy to use with great visual feedback when you're editing. My postwork on photos and renders is now far superior. Just simple things like leveling give much improved results.

Excellent view - capture both the depth of the caverns and the distance of the horizon very well!
