Testing Paul Everett's great new plugin Surface Painter, which I used to place the grass plates, leaves, and gravel.

WOW! This is great. I like the fact that you can even see the stairs through the window, to the second floor. Nice job!

I would say everything is great, but the walk is a bit too bright. Good attention to detail.

Thanks everyone. The walk is too bright, and the lighting too dark. The woodwork doesn't have any texture yet. The trees come from Oynx Treepro. It's a work in progress. For anyone interested, I've posted a short animation here: {http://www.mvpny.com/HouExt4RSFrame.html} Please note that the crawlies are mostly due to the compression, It's about 5.2 MB.

Hi MV, it's Steve Bell. Looks good. I think that you need to knock some "used" look into the materials and objects. For example, the columns are way too smooth and clean and the strairs are too perfect. Seeing as you arent doing this scene to sell a new house then it's allowed to look lived in. Woodgrain to the planks would be nice, just a little bit under the paint, and a few imperfections. That lamp under the porch needs a bit of a yellowish tinge to it's light source, as they are never pure white, especially if they have any age to them. It would also paint the wall with a tiny bit of colour. Did you put in a dome around the building? A very, very soft moonlight maybe? I made a great new dome rig if you need it - you know my email. What are your render times like on this? Steve

Hi Steve. Nice to see you here. This render took about five minutes. The animation averaged four minutes per frame. As I mentioned above, the woodwork doesn't have any texture yet, and it's still a work in progress. I agree that I have a lot of work ahead to add the texture detail to make it look natural and lived in. About the lamp color, I just added the light, so at time of render, it wasn't old at all. ;-) I'll warm it up some, but it's an artistic choice as light color is completely relative.
