Description

A few days ago I posted the Fireweed leaves... Here is a picture of the Fireweed flowers with my macro setting. They are either pink, red or light purple in color(depending on individual plants - all the flowers on the plant will be the same color), and usually bloom (here, in Alaska) in July/August. They usually start to "bloom out" or "go to seed" in mid-August to early September. Then, according to local experts, you have approximately 4-6 weeks of warm weather left. Snow flurries start to fly mid to late September (once the Fireweed is totally white with seeds, and there are no more flowers on them). Thank you for looking. Comments are always welcome. ~Row.

Oh - that's the same species we have here. Our summer weather doesn't end until about the middle of October, though, and we don't usually get any snow until the end of November at the earliest, and usually not until January! When you posted the leaves, I had a hard time getting my brain around this, but I've got it now! :) Thanks for the very interesting information! And the photo is awesome! (I can't believe I almost forgot to mention it.) Gorgeous macro - excellent DOF and presentation. Really nice work!
