The moose is wild animal of the year 2007. The moose or elk (in Anglophone Europe), Alces alces,is the largest extant member of the deer family Cervidae. 16.6.07 Elchkuh versteckt ihr Kalb, beboren am 10.6.2007 Tierpark Berlin. Der Elch ist Wildtier des Jahres 2007. Der weibliche Elch heißt “Elchkuh“, und der männliche wird “Elchhirsch“, auch “Schaufler“ oder“Stangler“genannt. Das Jungtier nennt man “ElchKalb“. Der Elch ist das Wappentier der historischen schwedischen Provinzen Gästrikland und Jämtland.

Looks like she never knew you were there to take the photo. Excellent shot. -Thank you for the explanation of what the world names this animal. We had seen this animal posted and called an elk....This is a common sight where I live and we always knew them as Moose.
