Description

I made this terrain in World Machine, made sky and rendered in Terragen thanks for viewing and any comments.I know that many artists are experts at using other programs to create terrains for Terragen. I am no way comparing my work with theirs.I still only use what I have done from scratch, not borrowing other's terrains. I have fun working in Terragen and posted this in that spirit I am having trouble with creating realistic terrain colors.any suggestions? I can do it in psp but want to translate the color from world machine

Well, I don't know Richard, but seems to me that this could be a color you would see in nature, a misty early morning scene .. the mists and the rising sun would influence the colors of the mountains, don't you think? Wonderous scene, I'd love to plunge into that lake and cool off, but I bet it's freezing cold, LOL!!

This is pretty impressive Richard! It's a little blown out on the colors, so after rendering, maybe use the curves in Photoshop or whatever you use to bring the color baseline back into a normal range. You did a great job on this though! I'm impressed. Bunny

Nice atmospherics and stepped landscape with neat bump mapping, but IMHO the colour (?) texture seems to be missing, but I don't use Terragen, so I'm not sure about that, but some colour would tie the landscape and atmosphere together, just a suggestion. ~Cheers~ :o) p.s. this comment was for the first grey landscape version, but now you have changed it overnight, so this is a new comment...much better now and the scene looks more complete, now it has a real desert feel to it, with the soft hues, well done (again !)

Richard, this is a fine art creation! Terragen is a super tool for making art and for making sky and terrain background for use in further 3D programs like Daz Studio. One can never have too many tools, resources, skills, and tricks in one's "artist toolchest", although some work better than others depending on our projects, mood, etc. I like the angle of sunlight in this and the way it gives shadows, also the lake and its reflections!

Lovely work Richard. You are a person of many talents. I gave up on Terragen as I tended to drown everything. Practice I guess is the secret.

Water does not run downhill in Terragen, my friend. You have shown that each must prop up his own water source for ultra low head power. Just because you have had your water cutoff in this way does not mean ther is no water. Witness the clouds, and the lake.
