Hi all! Hopefully, this finds each of you in a good place...basking in the day :)
I woke this morning in one heckuva contemplative mood...something not foreign to me..as I'm sure you've all come to recognize... :P...And, the image and words all came over a simple cup o' joe. Djeez...But, hey, sometimes, that's just when inspiration sparks, in the simplest of moments, unexpected. And, even if I could design each minute of my life, I'd honestly have it no other way..:) Hope you enjoy!
Endless thanks for your previous comments. Always, they make me reach and stretch farther still. And, with that sort of lovely inspiration, who could ever ask for more?

A cup of black coffee
reminds me who I am:
my self, a conundrum of smooth bitterness.
For you, hard to swallow,
still, altogether craved.
Radiant warmth
cupped within your very hands,
you drink greedily of me,
to savor my heady, rich undertones
of earth itself, and purest feeling.
But the flavor
of my age-acquired clarity,
insight, disillusionment,
somewhat acrid to your lips,
hard for your shallow confines to stomach;
my soul becomes, to you,
no more than muddied water,
sheer abstraction.
Yet, oddly, I am not the one
misrepresenting.
Depths cool,
and we become an ill coupling.
I realize wholly,
that I yearn,
for a much richer blend
than you could ever be.
Even Juan Valdez surely weeps for me,
in intangible, liquid reflections of recognition.
His tears,
and mine,
break the still, quiet surface,
becoming.

Your image is a very lovely abstraction with warm inviting tones and swirls. To me the highlight though is your poem, i have always be envious of people that are wordsmiths. You have proved over and over how creative you are with the visual medium but now you prove another entirly new real of your creativity. Have a great weekend.

Marvelous!! I don't sit with my first cup too long, it gets slammed down my gullet quickly to get that caffeine into the blood stream .. the dogs want OUT and they want their walk NOW! So this is wonderful .. reflecting on YOUR cup of coffee ..

Thank you all for your great and thoughtful comments! You guys never cease to amaze and delight me :) Rita, the first cup is always taken along as Bella and I go for our morning walk. The second, my cherished one...the one savored slowly, alone (which is when this came) :)... And, Mandi? I wasn't sad when I wrote it...honest. Deep, yes...sad, no. Life and age have helped me separate the two just enough to maintain a safe distance from my own madness...bwaahahahaha...Lol! :P
