Photo shot in our backyard.
This insect was pretty big, more than an inch long, and i have no idea what it is.
Kinda looks like a big yellowjacket, but doesn't seem to be a real one, with stinger and all, and it was not aggressive at all. :)
Frame is from my "Frames 2D volume 01" available in the RDNA Store. :)
(resized down from the original 1800 by 1200 pixels size to 800 by 533 pixels).
Thank you for looking! :)

Thank you, Markablue. :)
Thank you, Ionel. :)
Merci, Bébert. :) En fait, je n'ai pas de lentille pour la macro (jusqu'ici), mais comme cet insecte est de grande taille, j'ai pris une poignée de photos et gardé la meilleure (les autres étaient floues). Thank you, MrsLubner. :) In fact, i don't have a macro lens (so far), but as this insect is big, i took a fistful of photos and kept the best one (the others were blurry).
Thank you, BryceK. :)

Bernado
Excellent shot. Remind me not to come to your backyard. 8-) Not Aggresive?! I'm sure it's monitoring you and your wife and it will attack when you feel more confident. 8-)

Thank you AlphaLioness, Gor111, and Bernado. :)
LOL, Bernado! :P
Burpee
I've always liked bugs and think they are cool. I have no idea what this is though it almost looks like some kind of fly in disguise...fly faking being a wasp. I walked from my car through some grass and bumped straight into a huge brown wasp carrying a grasshopper. Weird and very scary. It had a hard time carrying it and was clumsy. I'm glad it was busy or might have gotten stung. Dragged that poor grasshopper right down into a hole in the ground....brrr.
Jean-Luc_Ajrarn
Thank you, Burpee. :)
Yeah, i like bugs too (except mosquitoes).
I agree, looks like a fly-like one, doesn't have the same eyes as wasps, nor the pinchers and real stinger.
Better the grasshoper than you. ;)
UOja

it is a mimic fly. I have them every year. they do not sting or bite which good. they look like other bugs to ward off predators.excellent macro
