Description

On our rounds yesterday we decided to take a trip around and near Salisbury, again curiosity got the better of us and followed a castle sign which lead us this the Old Wardour Castle, which is a lovely place to visit, so see curiosity does pay off lol. I'm going to be writing off a board i photographed so i could inform you all about this castle as my memory is not that good lol. Wardour Castle was built in the late 14th century for John, 5th lord Lovel, during the reign of King Richard II. This is actually a new castle built in 1777 as the old Castle was badly damaged during the English Civil War in 1644, the ruins of the old castle is now an ornamental feature deliberately integrated into the landscape gardens to be admired as a "romantic ruin". It came into Government care in the 1930s and is now in the guardianship of English Heritage.

How interesting this is. The fact some walls are missing and because of your pov, the look at the interior is fantastic. I can only imagine what I looked like inside and how it would be to live in such a place. It appears to be nestled in the woods. You got a great sky behind it for effect and the shot has good compo.

Well, if this is the "new" castle, I would hate to see the old castle, LOL! I was in Salsbury to see Stonehenge. I wish I had known about this castle. Great shot!

I like this one a lot. Ruins are quite difficult to capture, and you did a splendid job here!
