Description

This is what houses look like many years after farmers have left the land - this rather sturdy structure is falling apart due to lack of care, more than anything else.

Such a sad thing. I haven't really understood the thinking behind loosing farm land. Great shot and something to think about.

That was quick, I only get time to post, notice a typo, edit, and its viewed an commented. I can understand a bit of what happens in some cases. I live in the farm house of a farm that is now owned and run by the people who own the farm next door. But this is on another property down the road. I know of many cases where people have left the land, walked off the property - the mortgage got too much due to government taxes etc, and several lean years in a row. The bank forecloses, they go bankrupt, and walk off with little more than the clothes they stand up in. 100 years ago, a farmer only needed to ensure his farm grew enough for him and his family to live off, to survive a drought or the like. Today, a farmer has to produce commercial crop to the value of about $1,000 or more per acre to meet all the government taxes and charges they get just for being there - and that's before they start buying anything for themselves. The current govt in NSW charges farmers water rates based on the size of the catchment size of the dams in their fields - next they'll charge them for the oxygen in the air needed to grow the crops.

Great capture. Too many try their best to meet the demands of taxes and lose everything. Perfect reminder of what our ever changing world is moving towards.
