Description
This is one of my most favorite scenes in Colorado. A priest saw a meteor strike the earth near here. The next day he and a friend set out to find it. When the priest saw this Granite Outcropping with Mount Meeker in the background he problaimed to his friend.. On this rock I will build my Church. It took the priest 20 years to raise the funding for this church. He also had to battle with the Highway department. They wanted to blast away the outcropping for a road project in the area. The church was finally built in 1936.

Thanks so much for including the story with it. What a supremely beautiful place. And to think this could have been just a highway! I never give 5* but this earns them!

I have been in this church and it is as lovely inside as outside. I used to live in Colo. and spent most of my summers in Estes Park. Wow, thanks for the memory.
