Thanks very much for the comments, they are always appreciated. I'm going to try and work on some textures for this guy over the weekend. My main aim is going to be learning how to use displacement maps with this model in 3dsmax. I foresee lots of coffee in my future! Cheers again.

I definitely agree with deviney's comment. I tried out and evaluation version of Zbrush and all I could come up with from that program was a something that looked like it came out of a persons mouth after a bad dinner! I look forward to the updates of this character. Excellent job. -James

...LOTS of coffee, or Jolt, or Rockstar, or Howlling Monkey...This guy looks like a chief assistant to some top-kick master gunnery sargent...

Hmmm - when i see modeling like this, i don't have any problem believing Christ walked upon water, it seems so much easier to do so then to model this in MAX - its simply beyond this realm of reality ;))

Nice work , i'm with ya on the exporting ,displacement maps and exporting my polypaint as a texture. I need decent subsurface scattering and although Zbrush can produce decent renders, I can't get any convincing SSS in it ;) I'll be trying it in cinema4d instead of max though, good luck to you.

I've managed to use displacement maps with fairly decent results in cinema4d but max is a real pain in the butt. Thanks for the comments.

Really great model and sculpting mate, his expression is fantastic too.Ps it was mesh exraction(s)(x3) by mask painting the patterns on his head, extracting then deforming a little.Cheers cal

very good work but why displace wouldn't be faster if you use normal maps? it is faster at rendering time and you get the same effect ,unless you don't export the mesh from zbrush. As a max user 3dsmax can't handle a certain number of polygons and sometimes it crash, that's happens to me.Anyway great work you have done..
