Description

Another of my Shanghai skyline shots. This was another lucky shot catching the sun on the side of the building. The city looks so futuristic but the sad part is the poverty underneath these buildings, many of which are almost empty and just for the consumption of visitors. I went into an Internet cafe about 3/4 weeks ago but the minute I tried to connect to yahoo somebody somewhere was alerted and I had a visit from the Internet Police, what they cant see is that the young kids are finding their ways around this and seeing what the real world is like, I'll give it 5 years before the new generation start making waves, scuse the pun. Well Jeff seeing as the Russians probably know its safe to tell you lol. I'm the skipper and on my way home now via Rotterdam to the best Mate in the world together with enough crude to last her a few weeks at the speed she drives! OK the technical stuff. Frequencies go from 156050 MHz to about 162500+. Channel 16 is still the main distress/call frequency on 156.800 Tx/Rx, plus the USA also require a listening presence on channel 13, but with GMDSS being the main standard now its easy to punch in the ships ID and connect immediately instead of the need to go to channel 16., then on top of that with satellite technology its not easy to hide anymore lol., not forgetting my Tri-band cellphone which never works! We are 9KKF 320M Length, 52M Beam 22M Draught 290.000 DWT approx End of sermon Thank you for your comments on 'My space', including the humorous ones. Except auntietk that is who didn't agree with me on what it takes for a good POV! Lol Dave

Nice shot Dave, like the twinkle from the sun, very impressive buildings, make it look oppulent, even if it isn't. Thank for the info, makes for interesting reading, I sometimes listen to shipping on my ham radio, I also have a scanner. Tracey will be waiting with open arms, and I think you've got a good un.

Fantastic capture. You turned my appetite on. I'll be there in less than 2 weeks and hope to catch such a sunset.

What a gorgeous shot! The way the light changes from the bottom of the building to the top is just fascinating. Thanks for showing me a part of the world I would never have seen otherwise! (If I had said I liked your backside better than the backside of Tracey's flower, THEN what would you have said? I bet I can't win. That's okay - luv ya anyway!) :)

Oh my. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, lol. I see those numbers and my mind immediately starts to wander. Sorry :^) Anyway, cool shot of Shanghai. My MIL was just there recently, and all of her shots were soooooo gray and grainy...so I can appreciate how good this is. Happy sailing! -M :^)

I had to come and see your pic after seeing you not only read that long story but you like abstracts. 2 pluses in my book. I am glad I visited. Interesting story and a wonderful golden shot. Great light! And thanks for wading through the Highlight Zone! :)

Great capture, and the sun glinting off the building makes the shot, in my opinion!
