Description

Much of my time I spent last year on my trip in Ireland was spent in County Mayo, Tourmakeady and the surrounding countryside at a place called Cong was the backdrop for the film "The Quiet Man" The name Tourmakeady, or Tuar Mhic Éadaigh, means the Bleach field of Mac Ceadaigh. Whereas no trace remains of the family of Keady, the tradition of Flax growing lived on in Tourmakeady, I had found a moor that looked promising with rocks and mountains at the rear, and the stumps of what must have once been a forest almost fossilised over the ages. I had waited all day for the moody skies to develop and was the scenes for my Storm Journal and Universal Prison series.. However this trek across the moors as can be seen by the poor Sheep trapped in a bog proved hazardous, and even lost a boot and nearly got stuck myself..

Now this certainly has got a moody feel to it Danny! This is how a landscape scenery should look - it has depth, colour, contrasts, the play of light and shadow and even an added extra in the carcass!! Beautifully captured and worth the lost boot I think!! Hugs. xx

Worth the wait and the Trek, Danny. A beautiful Moorland capture. Mother nature in her moody gown...a gorgeous shot. Ireland appeals so much to all the senses.. Hugs. Di.

A breathtaking view. At full size the details are stunning. So rich and live. You got a fantastic shot. I can see why we hear it refered to as the emerald island.

mmm!...County Mayo , where Napoleon had planned to land to catch the English settlers off-guard !...A part of Connemara I 've been familiar with in my salad days ! Your magnificent capture is the perfect representation of what the Irish call ' the bog' . Thanks a million for sharing .

Wow, you even caught lightning. The mood and drama justs pops right out i can feel it. I'm happy you didn't get stuck in the mud. That would have been horrible. All the trekking you did was worth it, just for this photo.

The perfect skies add an excellent complimentary mood to your description of the land. Well composed and very dramatic with the skeleton up front.

I've only just looked at a map and realized Broadway is about 35 miles Northeast of Oxford. Now I must really hurry up to catch up in Ireland. In America this would be the death of a rustler. The closest I came to Ireland is reading a bible in Gaelic in a miner's museum in Bruce Mines, Ontario, Canada. I'll just have to make my own way back to the homeland of the McRory ancestor.
