On Fractals:  When Rick (aka Rykk on RR) and I got together, he introduced me to fractal art.  I started making simple fractals (mostly spirals) in UltraFractal but then found I preferred to use Apophysis. When I learned how to use PhotoShop (just enough to be dangerous), I began creating compositions using the flames I made in Apophysis. But, then my interest changed and I got into Photography.
On Photography: When I was a teenager (back in the '70's), my sister let me try her 35mm camera. None of my pictures turned out, so then I wouldn't use anything but a point&shoot. When the point&shoot digital cameras came out, I got one and discovered the joy of taking macros. I spent a lot of my free time searching for any kind of critter I could find. My son, who used to be a photographer for the US Navy, encouraged me to expand to a DSLR and recommended Nikon. In 2006, my husband gave me a Nikon D80 for my birthday (he's such a wonderful guy!). I'm still in learning mode of all the different settings (aperture, etc.), but I find I still love to capture those macros. It wasn't until after I got the D80 that I discovered the reason my pictures didn't turn out on my sister's 35mm -- it was the eyepiece!!! If we had only known!Â
On me: I am married to my Wonderful Prince (see above) and we live on the east coast of Florida. We became grandparents in September 2006. I have always enjoyed most of the Disney and Pixar cartoon movies. For those of you who don't recognize it, my Avatar is Dory from the movie "Finding Nemo" (my favorite). I can relate to Dory -- it's that short-term memory loss that I'm afflicted with as well!! HA!  :^) Â
