Description

Glad to be around again ! How do you do ? A vulture gliding over the garden at considerable height. The nature reserve is located quite near so very often the vultures appear in the sky searching for dead corpses of sheeps. Sometimes flying in great amount and quite low, it is frightening to see a big bird like this one flying as a Cesna over the trees. Many thanks for your visit and comments

Brilliant photo! They terrify me. I once came across a flock of thirty of them in the hills in Soria feasting on a sheep. They all took off and soared right over my head and I could hear the wind in their wings and smell their horrible smell. And, always of course, the rumours about a poor guy from Almazan who was grabbed by the claws of a vulture and dropped into a field a kilometer away!!!!

I don't know what I like better, this great capture of the vulture or those magnificent clouds. Can I say both? Excellent shot, Cosme!!!

They are very big yes.. a few months ago a large group appeared in the Netherlands and that was very unusual. It is believed it has to do with lack of food in Spain because of European rules.. no corpses are to left behind by farmers anymore..

A beautiful capture dear Cosme that speaks of freedom.. Having said that I cetainly would not want one of these huge birds flying over my little garden!! The sky and the clouds are so perfect. I hope your holiday was wonderful. I have missed you and your work.. I am happy you are back with us. Big hugs. Diana.

buzzards/vultures are so very graceful in the air. They can hang on the air currents and never move their wings for the longest time. This is a great compo - that bulding white clouds add a softness to the hard look of the scavenger.

I watched a large hawk drifting in circles above my head yesterday. He never once flapped his wings but used the air thermals and current to keep himself aloft. Amazing to me as is your crisp image of the awesome creature!
