Description
While trying to shoot some foliage in Carolina Beach State Park, I glimpsed something moving out of the corner of my eye. When I turned, I realized I was crouching next to a three-foot-wide spider web and that Miss Spider was not real thrilled about it...
Since she was already ticked off, I figured it wouldn't do any more harm to stick my camera in her face and fire off a few shots. And voila -- my first bug pic.
Mr. Google informs me that she is a Golden Silk Spider (Nephila clavipes). Most people call her a Banana Spider and she is about 3 inches long.

LOL @ Hairyface..... I'm with him though (if I had a lens that big!!) I'd would have ran for my life when I'd realised I was sat next to "that" thing!! Now I've held a tarantula, but these everyday spiders (as I call them!) scare the life out of me far more yuck! But, this is a great capture with wonderful details (OMG, I can't believe I've just said that!!) Excellent. xx
