Yes..it is a real tree, and all tree. The Inside is hollow and it has a hole in the side which can be seen in the shot. It also has a hole in the top. Due to the climate these tree reside and the lack of water, it needs to capture the water so it works like a huge cup catching all it can. As the story goes..it has another name, "the prison tree" as it was used in the old days of outlaws on horses as a holding cell on the long journey back to Derby from the Australian outback.
