Description
This Monarch decided to attach it’s chrysalis to the top-side of the terrarium where we are raising them. You can see the fully developed Monarch curled up tight inside the chrysalis. The pic was taken last night. Today when I got back home from work the Monarch was out enjoying it’s first day. We released her this evening she is a real beauty.

We collect the caterpillars, too! Currently have two in chrysalis waiting to hatch! Great shot of the transparent shell.

If I had a job and if I had a chrysalis about to hatch, I am sure I would have taken a "sick" day so I would have been able to capture the emergence, lol. But then again, I have very few responsibilities so it is an easier decision for me than many others. I am watching two Gulf Fritillary chrysalis that are attached to an outside yard umbrella frame. In the past, parasitic wasps have prevented any from hatching. Maybe these will survive. Great shot. Thanks for sharing. Lee

That is so cool! I've never actually seen one of these. I love how you can see it inside....and the outside looks like it's decorated in jewels. Fantastic capture! :)
