I do believe it's: "Foxglove Camelot Rose" look here: and type in foxglove... http://www.burpee.com/home.do Great shot Errol these plants are medicinal too, I know the Japanese might grow them for decorations, but hidden lies a wonderful treatment for heart conditions!!! Digitalis purpurea (Foxglove) That should suffice the information mongers!!!! Aloha...

Look related to Snap Dragons to me, and I sort of think I might have heard they were related to Foxgloves as nongo identifies it, so that would make sense I guess. Whatever they are, they're beautiful!

What a lovely photo. I believe this is known as 'Obedient Plant', also officially named as Physostegia. I have a white one here, (Physostegia virginiana, Alba) The flowers are quite small, and the tallest 'spike' of flowers here is just under 3' tall. Does that fit with yours? Your photo is a delight to view!

Very nicely done. And welcome home. I believe this is a variety of lavender. Japan has so many variety of flowers it isn't funny. The people take special vacations just to see the different flowers in bloom. Looking forward to more pictures of Japan. Aloha

Beautiful image! The flowers do look like foxglove, but foxglove generally only grows with one flower cluster all the way up a single stalk. Hmmmmm. I'm not much help - sorry!
