Description
The two men squared off atop the roof of the towering skyscraper that was Geodyne's fortress.
"You're dead this time," growled the iron-muscled Kiribata, his mohawk bobbing in the gusty wind. He hefted his great ax, its monomolecular blade glinting in the last rays of light as the fitful sun sank into a bed of storm clouds.
"Third time's the charm," Donovan answered simply. He glowered at his opponent. "Last chance. Surrender or else."
Kiribata roared like an enraged bear and charged in a blinding rush, too fast for any mere human, too fast for Donovan to react, almost too fast to even see. The SureCut spinarette automatically detected the impact and spewed out its fragile life line, trying to grab something solid. As the force of the charge carried both men over the building's parapet and out into empty air, Donovan smiled: "Death, then."
