Description
En Birmanie les hommes passent plusieurs sejours au monastere au long de leur vie. Trois mois, trois ans... Pendant ce temps ils sont moines et doivent obéir aux regles. Apres, ils reviennent à la vie laique.
La permiere fois c´est vers 7 ans, quand ils rentrent au monastere pour une retraite de trois mois. C´est comme la premiere comunion chez le catholiques.
Cela donne lieu a une grande fete, avec un cortege plus ou moins sompteux selon la famille.
Le garçon est habillé en Prince, comme Boudah, il est porté, ses pieds ne doivent pas toucher terre.
Une fois au monastere, on lui rase la tete et il prend la robe de moine, simbole du renoncement aux biens terrestres.
La procession est encore faite en char a boeuf, tres decore et tous les participants sont habilles comme la famille royale.
Prince pour un jour...
In Burma, the first time a boy go to monastery for 3 monts when he is 7 years old, is a big party for the family.
Like Budan he is dress like a prince. In monastery hair is cut and dress like a monk.

Burma will always be Burma to me. I read Myanmar in the papers and it just is not right. A wonderful image, and a great lesson in the ways and traditions of this beautiful people
