Description

We found this watermelon plant in the yard. I assume the previous occupant of our place was out there eating a slice of watermelon and without thinking spit the seed out. The plant survived scortching heat and dry conditions and has now produce this tiny flower. We're going to transplant it to the little strip of garden we dug up; so we'll see what happens. Stay tuned.... Thanks for stopping by. Make it a great day!

I'd say most people don't think of watermelons as starting from a tiny flower. A beautiful flower too!

what wonderful textures and detail, even to the odd loose grain of pollen!

Sure hope it survives the transplanting. I haven't had much luck with that - not with watermelon anyway. But then, I haven't had much luck with melons. I have pumpkins and gourds everywhere but melons don't like me. This is a gorgeous textured shot of this bloom. The pov and excellent focus really shows off the incredible amount of pollen these blooms have.
