Description
This was the derelict mill at Burghfield. It stood on a reasonably size island with the Kennet on one side and the mill stream on the other.
It was a wonderfully peaceful, atmospheric place and one of my favourite photography locations for several years.
The mill buildings have, in recent years, been restored but, sadly, turned into luxury flats and the rest of the island has been built on.
The whole place is now a housing estate and all the character, charm and solitude has gone.
It's good that the old buildings have been preserved but I still miss that melancholy, deserted feel that it used to have.
Oh well. That's progress.

What a beautiful shot! It's sad that progress takes such scenic places.
