Born 1941. Yeah, I know, that's old. Live in Rome. Was raised in Buenos Aires, and still feel that as home. Work as a consultant in GIS (Geographical Information Systems). My hobby, or maybe my real profession, is South American history. My wife is a very well known (in her specialized world ) Roman archeologist. Our son is 30 years old, but hasn't decided to grow up yet. Deals in politics. We travel, at least an important travel each year.

What depth are you at? A few months back I tried to explain to digital artists the effects that water gas on light and color the deper you go. I was ignored. Your photo proves my point. No stark red and the sunlight is not yellowish green. Too deep for that. Thanks.

It's not very deep, 15 feet I guess, we were at the end of the dive. Water filters out the red light very fast, you can put some red back by adjusting color balance in photoshop (which I did on this one), or putting on a red filter (my Sealife DC600 has a sea mode that does that, but it was not on in this shot) or much better by using an external flash. The water dims artificial light fast too, so it's better to use a very wide angle lens, to have the less possible water between the camera and the subject.

ok, no offense but I would title this "Dumb boy" not Cow Boy... :-) I remember walking Galveston shore before 7 a.m. and seeing many small sharks washed up and dead. Made me realize that even in in the shallows, you are never without sharks when you are in the warm water areas. I never set foot in "wild water" after that realization. Sharks, jellyfish, Man-of-War, all sorts of things on the sand is only a small sample of what is in the water a few feet away! There are no safe sharks in my book, no more than there is a "dog that doesn't bite" in this world.
