Description
Another C6 render. Victoria4 imported, posed, clothed, textured and given hair in Carrara. Mostly the same plants as used in my "Meadow" pic.

Now I remember I saw this on the Daz Newsletter, congrats on that and outstanding work :)

Beautiful image. I've got C6 Pro, but still haven't managed to produce something with skin tones like I can get with Poser 7. I've got to keep playing. Great job and congratulations on being used in the promo process for the new program.

This is awe-inspiring! For a sec I thought you'd accidentally put a Photo image in the Carrara gallery. You've challenged me to become a better artist. Thank you.

This is a superb render, I also saw this in the news letter congrats. I use Vue and Poser and I'm considering buying Carrara for some of the latest/updated features that Poser is rubbish at and Vue can't do at all. A couple of questions if that is alright: Is there any post work. How long did this take to render (Quick sys spec if possible) and is this the upper setting because the lighting is awesome. The hair looks excellent, is this strand based hair. Wonderful eco sys, is it hand placed. How easy is it to use/prepare scenes in your opinion when compared to other programs that you know. Many thanks in advance.

@chrispoole I think it took about 5-6 hours to render at pretty hires (3600x2400px) on a 2.66 MacPro Quad Xeon. Only post work was to correct the levels and add a little haze using a depth map. Lighting wise there is one directional/sun light and I'm using the GI Skylight but the settings were actually pretty low - boosting them up blew out the render times without increasing the quality of the render. Yes the hair is the new C6 hair and the plants were placed using the surface replicator, one replicator for each plant type (grass, dandelions, buttercups, daffodils, trees) Some, about 3 or 4, trees were placed by hand. This scene was actually pretty easy to set-up because I was pretty much just using the same elements as my "meadow" pic - that was the one I spent a lot of time on. Can't really compare to other pograms (I haven't used poser since version 1, bryce since version 2 and Vue never). The only 3d app I do have considerable experience with was Infini-D, one of Carrara's ancestors in the '90s.

Amazing! Your Nordic series is excellent too. I've just started using Carrara 6 and am impressed with the potential, especially the hair capability, which seems far superior to Poser's dynamic hair. I suspect it will be a very steep learning curve to get anywhere near this standard though.

Incredible detail! It does look like a photograph, yet it also has a wonderful "painterly" feel to it as well! Thanks for sharing some insights into your lighting methods and use of the replicator.
