Description
The Beacon
The Hill may have been part of the beacon chain used in 1588 to warn of the approaching Spanish Armada. A beacon was lit on 1st January 2000 for the start of the new Millennium, It was also lit on 4th August to celebrate Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mothers hundrredth Birthday.
This Beacon, on the site of many predecessors was commisioned by Crich Parish Council to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen and was first fired on the 3rd of June 2002.
This is on the same site as the Regimental War Memorial.
The wall is a prime example of Dry Stone Walling.
