Un couple de la noblesse tribale du Timor Oriental pendant une fête a Dili, la capitale. J´ai fait des centaines de portraits, photografié les danses, céremonies, meetings politiques du parti des rois tribaux, de tendence socialiste. Si le roi n´est pas bon, on le remplace ! J´ai mis les photos sur CD rom et amené à mon ami Roi qui est aussi deputé au Parlement. Il était ravi et impressioné. Il a montré aux autres rois. « Personne n´a jamais fait le registre de nos traditions comme cette dame, venue de l´autre coté du monde ! ». Pour la grande céremonie dans la montagne, qui réunissait plusieurs villages. Mon ami Roi-Deputé a loué un génerateur élétrique, amené un data-shoe et son lap-top. La nuit ils ont tendu un énrone tissu blanc avec une corde et ont fait la préséntation de mes photos aux villageois. L y avait tellement de monde et l´enthousiasme était tell que je pouvait à peine approcher. Ils riaient, montraient du doigt les gens qu´ils reconaissaient, beaucoup se sont vus á l´image ! J´ai fait un certain nombre d´expositions dans ma vie, dans des endroits prestigieux. Mais cela restera pour moi la plus emouvante. Dans la nuit, dans une montagne sans electricité, je montraient aux gens eux mêmes et leurs coutumes ! Je me suis sentie utile et fière comme peu de fois dans la vie. La photo sert à ça, rendre la fierté aux gens... I try in English: A couple of the tribal nobility of East Timor during a festival in Dili, the capital. I made hundreds of portraits, photos of dances, ceremonies, political meetings of the party of the tribal kings, socialist tendence. If the king is not good, he can be replaced! I put photos on a CD Rom and show to my friend King who is also Congressman in the Parliament. He was charmed and impressed. He show my photos to the other kings. “Nobody never made the register of our traditions like this lady, arrival of the other side of the world!" For the great ceremony in the mountain, whith many villages of the region, my friend King-Deputy rented a generator eletric, take a data-show and his lap-top. The night they tightened a big white tissue with a cord and made the presentation of my photographs to the villagers. There are so many people and so enthousiatic I have difficult to approach and see also. They laughed, showed to finger the people they recognized in the images, many of them appear in the photos. I made a certain number of exhibitions in my life, in prestigious places. But that will remain for me more emotive. In the night, in a mountain without electricity, I showed the people to theyselves and their way of life. I felt useful and proud like few times in my life. The photography can used for that, to return the pride to people…

Wonderful pose, colors, look at those veins; there's some living behind their eyes. Never visited your Gallery until now but what struck me immediately when viewed as a page of thumbnails; it was like a salad of color and texture, color and faces, faces and places. Impressive body of work.
