Description
Here's a plane flying at the Little Gransden Airshow. As you can guess from the number, there are more to follow! No idea what kind of plane it is, I'll check with my Dad. Feedback please!

Very nice capture. Looks like it might be a Spitfire, but I don't know much about planes

The plane is definitely a NorthAmerican P-51 Mustang, but I cannot say which mark. Type D or later. Nice picture. Did you like the sound? smile

a nice shot, but what are they teaching you youngsters these days ? the P-51 was one of the most significant planes of WW2, and looked nothing like a Spitfire (newleaf !!), though it did have the same engine, the RR Merlin, which was licence-built for it in the US.

Sure looks like a D model, they were the most common. The Allison engine was the alternate power for this fighter, but pilots preferred the Rolls Royce engine as it was more reliable. P51s are beautiful to look at in pictures and up close. Thanks.

This is definitely a P-51D with a Merlin engine, and the markings put it in the 55th FG, 8th Air Force based in Englad in WWII.

It's a P51D

OK, now we know what plane it is. Can I please have feedback on the photo itself?!

It'a very good shot. I like the black and yellow checkerboard of the Normandy invasion force. Some might say with such a celebrity how could you miss. But I can see the rich color without the shadow dullness that marks many ground to air shots.

This is another superb airshow capture! You caught it at just the right moment to show off the Mustang's classic lines as well as the blue sky and white clouds. 5+!
