Description

After some messing around I finally got a tolerable render with imported content. It wasn't entirely painless though as I had to adjest the skin shaders for the model. I was able to apply the maps as usual but the bump mapping was to extreme so I had to reduce it, redo the eye highlights and reflection and add subsurface scattering. Haven't yet gotten to dynamic hair testing. The only post processing was a slight touch of local contrast enhancement to sharpen the textures a bit as the final output was a touch soft. In case anyone's interested the setup and settings are listed below: Scene Objects Daz Mike SR2 with HiRes Maps. 1 grey infinite plane for ground. 1 6ft x 6ft white plane angled upwards toward the face for use as a light reflector or bounce light. Skin Shader Adjustments Highlight – 15% Shininess – 5% Bump Map – 3% Subsurface Scattering – On - Color – 128, 0, 0 - Intensity 10% Lighting 1 Distant Light – Soft Shadows on (set to 2000 ft) – brightness set 140% - Quality Good Atmosphere set to Realistic Sky and 112% Global Brightness. Ambient 20% - Color 184, 222, 255 Render Settings Full Raytracing – On Anti Aliasing – Best – Object Accuracy .5 pixel – Shadow Accuracy 1 pixel Filter Sharpness – 95% Ray Depth – 8 Global Illumination Sky Light – Intensity 50% Indirect Light – 100% Interpolation – On – 20% Improved Edges – On Light Through Transparency – On Lighting Quality – Excellent - Accuracy - 4 Pixels Caustics – Enabled - Intensity – 50%

Outstanding stuff. Two little tidbits (for the sake of perfection): I'd add a little glow to the cigarette, as well as some smoke.
