Description

Nikon 7900 image. On September 1, I posted an image of some newly hatched Stink Bug Nymphs and the egg cases they hatched from. After the original hatching, they stayed in a tight little group for a couple of days. Today's image shows you what happened after 3 days. The Nymphs went thru their 1st "instar" (a molting) and this is what they looked like shortly after shedding the skin they had worn for just a few days. Since they now seem to be various shades of colors, each one apparently completed this molting at slightly different times during the day. I had intended to continue this follow up as each "instar" was completed and hopefully find out for sure what the exact species of Stink Bug they grew up to be. Unfortunately, within a day of this image, they all dispersed to parts unknown, lol. The insets show the newly hatched ones and the empty husks left after their 1st molting. I think they will undergo 4 or 5 more "instars" before they reach maturity. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee
