Artwork to amuse, amaze, and sometimes terrify.
BIO
I started out illustrating my own non-fiction books. When I "went digital," I realized that I could be doing much more creative things and soon started doing illustrations that stood alone.
Since then I've created fantasy and science fiction book illustrations for Byron Preiss/ibooks, Delirium Books, Seattle Books, and many magazines and small book publishers. One highpoint of my work was having an illustration selected for the cover of Renderosity's first Digital Art for the 21st Century (with my work also appearing inside, too).
In addition to the artwork I have here at Renderosity, I have more pictures "for your viewing pleasure" at DuncanLong.com

Yes, I was thinking Norman Rockwell!! His appearance is of a character I would like to get to know about!

I can understand ones artwork taking a life of its own, having experienced this a few times myself. Forgive my saying it, I jsut wish it were larger to be able to enjoy all the refinements of the illustration. I still cannot get over the fact it was done using the computer as I would have thought the more traditinal method of gouche material was used. Never the less, this is excellent work! Thank you for sharing. egmont

With that level of realism, I'm not surprised he came to life. I've just installed the eval of Painter, I can't imagine how to begin doing something like this!!

The learning curve for doing something that approaches a painting is steep with Photoshop, Photo-Paint, and so on. At first, my results looked like something that first graders might do with tempera paint. However as one learns the various ways of blending and which brushes work well, things start to progress. I would suggest that ArtRage (available in a freeware edition) is a good program for creating painterly work.

Excellent painting. Yours skills are well-honed. I think this fella appears a bit too mainstream for a truly devilish crook. Then again, as it is, I wouldn't trust him with the time of the day. ;)
