Born at the tail of the baby boom, James was introduced to drawing and painting at an early age by his parents. Now, nearly 65 years later, he still occasionally sketches and paints but for the most part uses computer graphics programs for image creation. His favorite programs are Blender, GIMP, Poser, and Vue. He currently lives in a small town in New Jersey, sharing his space with two cats and a human female.

The modeling of the vessels and lamps is really well done and I can only imagine the problems trying to render out so many objects with these materials. I thikn this scene would eat my machine alive! I actually like the blue tint of the glass as it adds a contrasting color to the scene, but that's just me! Most excellent work on this!

It turned out that the blue was due to a default reflection limit on Vue's ray tracer engine. With guidance from the kind folks at the Renderosity Vue forum I was able to set the limit to 16 instead of the default of four and a mere 256 hours later I had a image without blue.
Of course, there was no way I could wait for 256 hours, so I went on a ten day vacation in France while it rendered.
A very, very belated "Thank you!"

wow, I'm impressed at all the lamps. good job!

I made only three lamps; the only difference between them being the shape of the oil reservoirs (based on lamps that I have hoardedXXXXXcollected). Vue has a duplicate function that I used to make them many...
