Almost religious in its pose and the repetative brush pattern upon closer examination I find looks like cactus thorns. This very same pattern over her eyes, especially her right one, making it appear as if having been stiched shut, but for the lip area the pattern evolves from a stiching torn pattern to teeth that are now exposed. I know we all can see something different and so each ones interpretation would be varied from the next. In the end, I conclude seeing a tortured being whos soul is ascending into the light and with her pose she is telling us that no matter how much pain she is to endure, she is at peace with herself. I really love this piece, you can see the detail of the model without showing it to much, the texture of the work his great i thought it was painted on canvas. Love it !!
