Description
Firstly I want to thank those who have commented on my images, I have been rather tardy in reciprocating, I hope I will get to more of your images and commenting soon.
Thank you also to the staff here, and to those who have congratulated me on GoM for September.
On the TV right now is a show 'Britains Favourite View' - well this is mine. I took this shot this afternoon as the sun lit St Pauls and left surrounding buildings in shadow. I was, as has been my habit recently, walking along beside the Thames just pondering on thoughts. The city is a whirl of change at present, with new building seemingly everywhere.
This St Paul's was once a part of a massive rebuilding too, it replaced the medeival St Paul's cathedral in the 17thC after the original was lost to the great fire of 1666. Since, it has stood through many changes and troubled times as a beacon of hope for Londoners.
Many thanks for viewing

If I may add my two cents worth regarding this photograph and a recent television program having aired here in the USA on PBS, regarding the Blitz Krieg and the bombing of London in December 1944 and how the church remained vertualy untouched as all around it, there was massive destruction. What also makes this image interesting from todays viewpoint is the architectural trim that could resemble barbwire and terrorism, as it was the first thought that came to mind. Still, I greatly enjoyed your unusual view with excellent interactions between the buildings and the composition it creates. Thank you for sharing. egmont

Gorgeous capture!!!

Very nice capture of this historical landmark- the balance of contrast, as always, is perfect. I wonder if this building is lit up enough at night to make an interesting long night exposure too?

I saw the same show on PBS that Egmont mentioned, and it was the first thing I thought of. There were many brave people who kept this dome from catching fire during the Blitz, while everything around was burning. What a wonderful image - this is just beautiful!

seen so many times (in photos) yours is definitely fresh and unusual, which makes it a real pleasure to view.

It's not easy to get a good capture of St Paul's nowadays. Wren's bnuilding is really fully "overgrown" by new kinds of weeds that show no respect for tradition. (tic). In a way your shot has something that reminds me of the Gandy drawings at the Sir John Soane museum, one of my favourite places in London.
Richardphotos
excellent contrast from old to new

Indeed a great pov, thanks for sharing you favourite view, not being that fond of London and it's traffic, a view that I would never see but through your eyes a get a glimps. A view that I like very much, you have done Wren proud showing the majestic building still standing, in amongst the new. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!
