BIO Hi, I am Gun Legler from Sweden. I live together with my cat Simon in a little village near Gothenburg On the outside I am old, but young inside :-) For so long I can remember, I have enjoyed expressing myself through any kind of art or craft. Until I was 40 I worked as a child psychologist and pre-school teacher, but after that I said goodbye to my profession and began studying at an art school. There I stayed for four years, mainly learning Graphic art (etching, dry needle and linoleum cut). I was a lousy oil painter, that medium did not fit me at all, watercolor I liked better. For many years I made collages of different kind, watercolor and textile. I grew up with a mother that sewed and a father that built violins, so I early fell in love with textures of many kinds. I have now abandoned making textile collages, but I realize that I work much in the same way with my computer art. I take a piece here and a piece there and try to make a whole of it. And I am madly in love with textures of all kinds, I can sit for hours just playing with different colors, textures and filters, making backgrounds just for fun (and for upcoming images). I work very much by intuition when I make an image, experimenting wildly with layers, textures, color and light. But the form is equally important, thats what Graphic school taught me. I have seldom a clear inner image when I start creating, it is more a feeling I want to express. The process can be quite unconscious to me for a long time. The image gradually takes form, and become clearer to me. What I want with my images is to reach the feelings of the viewers, to make them look into their own inner being and respond in any way, regardless of which feeling is evoked.

I am Gun's daughter Lena (zitalena@gmail.com). I am so, so sorry to tell you all that mom passed Tuesday morning, Feb 8 2022, Swedish time. No panic, no pain, no regrets. So peaceful. I tried to get a message about this on my moms latest picture, but now I can't find it. But now I have her computer and can log in. Please email me if you want. Thanks to all. Mom really loved the community!! Her gallery will live on. I have changed the address to mine, because me and my brother really would LOVE to keep her gallery open. Love to all.

Very deep and spiritual image, Gunsan. It has a somewhat disturbing quality to it. I understand the words, 'Kyrie Eleison', means, 'lord have mercy', and that seems very, very appropriate for this image, especially today. May the lord have mercy on us all.

Very emotional and even though today is 9/11, with this artwork I go back to 1940's and the concentration camps. Thank you for sharing. egmont

Wow. Very diquieting image. I keep going back and looking at it, though it disturbs me. I think of killings during WW2, the killing in African countries, of the killings in Laos and the countries around there, of the killings in Sarajevo and those little countries. It disturbs me that people are killing their own. Disquieting and disturbing are such mild, civilized and sanitized words for things that are going on in our world, that make me want to scream and cry. More works like this are needed to wake people up. Thank you Gun, for painting this .. for posting this.

A simple image that seems to be complex at the same time.

A compelling and powerful image, Gun, befitting the hauntingly beautiful chant "Kyrie Eleison". One is carried into so many reflections by the words. Others have mentions some of the univeral considerations. However, I am taken within myself, led to reflect on my own life, the reasons I ask for "mercy". How can I look at myself and not be forgiving of others? I can't! Receiving mercy, I have to let it flow from me, with the love that motivates it. For that reason, "Kyrie Eleison" becomes a prayer and a thanksgiving, a sorrow and a joy. Excellent work of reflection and deep listening. Hugs and love, sis. Suzanne

Striking and compelling, worthy of multiple viewings. The title is fitting, and it just so happens that I saw this image while listening to John Tavener's "Fragments of a Prayer" it fits that particular image as well, and even viewing it by itself (without musical references) it's a strong and thought provoking image that shows both light and darkness. In short, it's excellent!

Really nice!!

What a haunting image: - faces like fingerprints - partially rubbed out - life stains - eyes that have no light - but their shadows condemn - mouths silenced in their time - but echos cry in some eternal space Kyrie Eleison - Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Chipka - Nice to know there are some Taverner freaks on Renderosity!!
