Description

Western Lowland Gorilla: Doomed to extinction? Between the Ebola virus, poaching, and lost of habitat,it seems that the Western Lowland Gorilla does not stand a chance of survival. Are we helpless? What can we do? I have no answers. In memory of Collosus,a Silverback that has passed away in captivity after living a reasonably happy life at the Cincinnati Zoo.

It's called money, I guess. If there were money to immunize them against that virus, or if there could be such a thing. Actually, the poaching and loss of habitat are the worst of all of those you mentioned. Our world is in a great deal of loss through various parts just because of the stupidity of man. Education is a key element to getting things like that stopped. Excellent capture. The gorilla looks concerned too!

Arr looks like the new hairy phill Colins from the Cadbury TV advert. (If you have not seen it, look it up on you tube, well worth a look) Great photo!

I agree the gorilla looks concerned, education is important but political decisions make the difference! Excellent choot, by the way!

Great capture. Education and money are desperately needed to stop this. How do you teach poachers that they need to find a new line of work before there are no more to poach and they are out of work anyway. I guess they will learn to poach something else and drive it towards extinction as well. Stupidity breeds stupidity! aaargh!

he`s got a right grumpy face bit like me first thing on a morning lol.seriously though its a real shame that all the things we can do with technology and such and yet the most important thing to my mind is that we dont do anything to save these lovely animals and throw money at wars and weapons that will eventually destroy us !! mick

Fantastic shot of this superb silverback such expression.. Yes I am with you 100% on conservation of them, Zoo's will be the only place we can see them.. Even the loss of life from some who have protected them seems to be in vain
