Description
This is till a work in progress, but it is coming together. These are the three main variations built of the Soviet N-1 moon rocket, intended to be their equivalent of the Saturn V.
From left to right, the 3L, the 5L and the 6L/7L designs.
Four launch attempts were made, all ending in explosion.

Beautiful modeling work here. Pity about the failed launches. Those explosions killed a lot of people, as I recall.

Nice work! I thought about doing this guys too. The GI or AO lighting is a little bit boring.

As I recall, it stalled out at launch, and they sent all of their techs out to the pad to get it going again -- and then the whole damn thing went off like a bomb, taking them all out in the process. Still, I kind of wish the Russians HAD gotten to the Moon -- it would've kept the pressure on us to keep going as well, and we'd probably have been to Mars long before now if we had. Thanks for sharing.
