Description

This is my first attempt at blending a render with a photograph, which is something I will have to master if I'm going to turn my novel, Blondie and the Beasty-girl, into a graphic novel (pictures and words). I know the lighting, the pose, and their wardrobe sucks (they can be fixed), but does anyone have a tip on how to get rid of the extra white pixels that surround a character, especially their hair, when they are rendered in DAZ against a white background? Using the smudge tool is a pain in the butt. Thanks, ~papawayne

Try saving it as a PNG with no background colour at all, that should get rid of the matte lines (the pixels you were talking about) - the background will be transparent. Good render though, you've manage to match the lighting up pretty well

Thanks, FrankT, but I do save as a PNG with a transparent background, and the matte lines still show. I've posted this as a question in the forums with an image that demonstrates what I'm talking about. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2712424 I hope I get an easy answer, because using the smudge tool is a pain in the butt.

Actually Dreamlight has just released the perfect product to handle this for you. The "Surface Mask Creator" for D|S. http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=5636&cat= Excellent match on the lighting!

The mask creator does indeed do a fantastic job. You did a really good job of this on your own though. The lighting is just about perfect.

The lighting is great- it matches the photo perfectly! Would using the photo as your backdrop work for what you want?

Hi jaynep12002, If I use the photo for a backdrop, then I would have to render the girls separately, so I can do further post work to them without affecting the image of the plane. Since they are already separate, I don't see any advantage. Anyway, this is just a draft for creating my characters and developing my techniques. I'll post a more polished version of this image when it's done. Thanks to everyone for the help. ~Papawayne

great blending and excellent scene and lighting. as far as the white pixels, I've had a little sucess with rendering on a black background in Daz and saved as png. Not quiet as much halo that way, worth a shot anyway. Excellent image.

Thanks, Cimaira I posted the question on the DAZ forum, and that is the answer I got (black background, save as PNG), so my problem is solved. Now, on to the next one :)
