Description

*** Please watch it full-size. Thanks! *** Why do we like to create CG landscapes if the real world is out there, with so many wonderful, real, landscapes? I think that one of the reasons could be that when we look at a CG landscape we let our mind drift away from this physical world, full of problems and ugliness, and we can enter a dream world. A world we create. A landscape can act a bit as a catalyst for a mental escape process. A landscape as an escape. Hence, the title. This is what I tried to depict here. The use of imaginary landscapes as a gateway to fulfill our desires, at least in our imagination. A dry, dead "real" world, as opposed to green, watery, living landscapes. Imaginary interaction between imaginary landscapes and "real" world: the house he wanted to have, where he wanted to have it, the child he never had. I tried to make his pose a natural one. He's in the middle of a desert but he's comfortably sitting in a garden chair, with a drink by his side, as if he was just in one of those landscape environments. The three landscapes on the frames were made by me, specifically for this scene (a kind of a 4-in-1 :-)). I didn't decide yet if I should post them later as individual images, I'm not sure if they're good enough for that. Thanks for watching! Oh, on a completely unrelated note, I can't resist to tell you this: if you received the latests e-on newsletter, you saw one of my images there. I think it's fantastic that they used it!
