Ellie, this is simply fantastic! (Of course I happen to really like the subject matter :) The only thing that struck me is the cloth- which is superbly painted(?)- seems to hog up all the attention. Then again, I am not familiar with the original work, so maybe it's supposed to do that...you may of course feel free to tell me where to get off if I'm being a dork- LOL! This is a wonderful render and your eye for detail is perfect. Thank you for sharing.

Illusion is a great title for this one. Just the thought of Him sitting there after such an ordeal makes me shiver.I have also enjoyed the other two that you posted around Easter the past two years.I have followed your work and admired your growth and diversity. Beautiful work...excellent and provocative image...In some gnostic belief systems the spirit that was Christ left the physical body to suffer and die, the spirit that was Christ did not die and Christ's suffering and death were merely illusions another example of the hidden meaning revealed only to those of the spirit as opposed to those who saw only the reality created by the false god; this system was counter to the orthodox belief that Christ suffered and died both in the body and spirit to redeem human kind....the fundamental idea being that the false god entrapped a spark from the spirit in the flesh and thereby created a counterfiet reality wherein all creations were bound by the law of the false god who created them.....the spirit however was not of the the created reality and was never bound by the illusions of a false reality...

Really brouhgt out the meaning of the son of God,a man of sorrows aquainted with greef. His suffering was for benifit in life. Thankyou for creating such holy truth.
