Description

This isn't part of a castle ruins, this is the whole structure. Perched as it is at the top of a hill in Northumberland, England, it would have appeared to marauders from the North (ie, Scots) to be a complete stronghold and thus deter attacks. It wouldn't have been completely useless - the towers on each side are big enough to afford shelter to a guard or two and are still accessible. Taken with landowners permission from approx SW direction.
