Description

Nikon D200 AF-S VR Nikkor 70-200MM Ice hockey has to be the most frustrating sport to shoot :). After about a 1,000 tries, my first decent body-check shot, * beams * placed by Son Zach. Hence, the title Separation - the goal of a good check is to separate the player from the puck. I was shooting this set through the glass. Originally I was bouncing the flash about 60 degrees to help fill in but I was getting too much splash/glare from the glass. No idea, besides strobes, how to fix that. Glass was dirty, so I learned best to have one of the kids clean it from the ice-side before the game :). Not very happy with the noise in the photo. Not sure of any techniques to clean that up. Any constructive comments, techniques or recommendations are appreciated.

Good shot. My game shots are, as you say, challenging and blurry.

Wow, you can almost hear the CRUNCH of this shot. OUCH! I don't really have experience with the sports photography, but definitely persist with it. I love pictures that show the moment of impact. Keep it up.
