Description
Another summer comes to a close here in Memphis. August was a disaster with more 100+ degree temperatures than any other month here in a long time. And we're way behind on our rainfall too. I think we had rain only 2 times during those hot scorching August days.
But with the coming of September the heat wave has ended, and we're even getting some rain now, although still far behind what the average is nine months into the year. One can sense that the earth is glad this summer is over, and it's now getting ready for the approaching fall, followed by the months of winter's slumber.
Sitting outside on our patio at night you can already hear the whispers of fall blowing in the cool winds.
But for me, in spite of Mother Nature making it a bit rough, it was a good summer with some really good changes. For the first time in a several years I'm once again looking forward to the arrival of fall and winter, and of course all the insanity of the holiday season too!
So I bid farewell to the days of summer. But I know before too long we'll be anxiously awaiting your return once again.
This picture was taken on the bluffs of the Mississippi River, just south of Memphis. Late summer on the Mississippi River - time seems to slow down just a bit.
Thanks for stopping by!

I really like the composition here with the sun directly behind gazebo. The light makes it look so peaceful. Would love to be in that gazebo with a glass of wine watching the sun set. I hope there will be periods of Indian summer to come. Would be nice to experience that with the warm glow of candle lights emitting from Jack O' Lanterns that will soon start appearing on people's porches and front doors.
