Description

All the pictures in my “microLaCoste” series have been taken with the macro setting of my small CANON IXUS 70 ! A fantastic tool for this kind of shots ! Best results are obtained when the camera is at a distance between 3 and 7 cm from the insect… When I saw this huge dragonfly (about 15 cm !) I was very excited and didn’t change the settings… So I took many pictures from a distance of about 10 cm or more… all blurred :~( But fortunately I also attempted a few “close-ups” and here is the result ! This dragonfly is a male Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea), also known as the Blue Darner. In French : l’Aeschne bleue In Dutch : De Blauwe glazenmaker In German : Die Blaugrüne Mosaikjungfer Thank you very much for your comments on my previous upload : thumb_1523104.jpg "microLaCoste #21 : Isophya pyrenea "

Photography as yours here keep surprising me as I wonder why the dragonfly does not depart when it sees the camera and lens approach. You certainly have a magical touch. Have a wonderful week and thank you for sharing. egmont

You're lucky they'll let you get that close. I have to do my dragonfly macro work with a telephoto lens.
