This is an interesting "symmetrisation" work... The background is symmetric on left and right halves, echoing the actual symmetric structure of the "stone"... Yet, the background has some subtle differences as the left and right halves are in fact two photos of the same landscape with slightly different shooting angle (at least I guess), and than one is reversed horizontaly... Well, maybe it's because I like symmetry very much and I liked this work very much that I felt the urge to analyse this work, but let me cut the babble here... :)

Thanks for the comments. I have done perfect symmetric works before by cutting in half and folding, but some of the surreal effect gets lost in the process. Here the column was symmetric enough by itself, and just needed some reinforcement by exchanging some but not all elements from left and right. I think it absorbs the attention better as the mind plays with the visual stimulus, without being able to discard it as a simple symmetry trick :)
