Description

*** Best viewed full size *** I liked the way the early morning fog was still clinging to the valley floor. There was a pack of 17 wolves in this valley, but the only way we could see them was with one of the park rangers' telescopes. This was the first time I tried something I'd read. For this landscape panorama I held the camera in portrait mode. The theory is that no one pans perfectly, so with a horizontal pano you're going to have to crop the top and bottom of the merged image. Holding the camera in portrait orientation gives you a lot more image to play with, and it's easier to include a little "extra" at the top and bottom. It makes sense to me, and seems to work well. The only drawback is that to get this image took seven shots instead of the four that would have been enough with the camera held the other way. But since Photoshop does all the merging and blending work, I'm ok with that. :-) Thanks for stopping by and any comments

This is absolutely beautiful. Great work on the pano... Love that low crawling fog and that high level clouds full of energy. Excellent job. Aloha

WOW! I'd say you did more then okay with this ...it's spectacular! What an awesome view! Neverending ....the fog rising is so sinister looking! I would have loved to have seen that pack of wolves! I checked out your pan and then I opened it again after I read your comments. Each time I saw more! What a great shot, great pan, great work in photoshop! 100+ on this one!!

This is beautiful, and I'm going to pass your tip along to Ken who is going to take a panorama shot from our motel room here at the beach. What amazed me when we were at Yellowstone this summer was how you drove for miles and miles and miles and everything was burned from the terrible forest fire in 1988. I knew the fire had been huge, but the enormity of it was mind boggling to drive through it and see it first hand. It was also very sad to think of the beauty that was lost.

That information on the pano is one I will hang on to. This is a gorgeous and peaceful vista. I bet you may not have seen the wolves very well but you could hear them clearly. Great shot.

Breathtaking! The fog is marvelous! Is there water under that fog? This looks like very difficult country for plants, but it does have it's own stark beauty.

It is a beautiful valley but I agree the fog clinches it.
