Description
Ultrafractal 4.03
Here's a geofractal fractstract with LOTS of texturing. Hope it's not too much - I just seem to get off on textures. A combo of 3 different formulae in this one. As ever lately, Jock Cooper's "IFS-Barnsley+jock III" from the jock.ufm folder and then "Attractors" from Dave Makin's mmf4.ufm and Gilles Nadeau's "Slope MartSam 9" in the gnd.ufm folder. And there's some "3D Texturizer Bark" textures and "Cluster" (mt.ufm) along with a few other swirls and patterns in the mix, too.
I spend lots of time exploring a formula with different ucl's and save lots of layers so that, if I can rememeber what I called them - lol - I can expand on one and have lots of shapes and vibes that I can combine to get what I want. It's a great way to sorta throw a curveball at a piece and break up the sameness that can come from using just one formula with different ucl's and allows for even greater creative input. Of course, as I said above, you have to remember you even had something and then where the heck you put it! lol
Thanks for stopping by, y'all!
Rick

Interesting design work!

This is gorgeous! I love every little bump and line. I really appreciate your explanation of your strategy. I am almost always dissatisfied with my finished images and am not sure what to do to make them more interesting. One thought I had was to avoid the "shape on texture" composition, but I haven't quite figured out how to make a smoother transition between background and shape. Based on your explanation, it seems I should be looking for complimentary shapes for the background--or maybe not thinking of primary shapes at all. BUT, if I don't start off with a shape, I'm confused about where to begin! lol

Extremely good texture work, and no, it's not too much! Great piece, really unique and interesting, and thank you for telling us what formulas you used! :D

A beautifully composed picture, harmonious in colouring, and containing a bewildering amount of interest. I'd say those rambling squares of increasing size and with a sameness of colouring - they make the picture and give it visual excitement. I seem to be keeping good company in the gallery today though the gap is really of immense hugeness.

Of course I love this! Repetition with just enough randomness to suit me, smooth flowy lines and diagonals. Topped off with just the right amount of texture. The colours aren't in MY palette, lol but I like nonetheless.

The colors especialy, talk to me in your image. Great composition.

I must admit to you how much I've gathered from your little notes that you so generously add to your work! I also save my layers in hopes to add something different to "typical" spirals, etc, from the various formulae in the .ufm files (Jock's got to be my fave, just wish he would do some more :-) As you, I need a different way of filing these special layers so that I can find them again, lol. Thanks, Rykk, for sharing your skill and knowledge; its really appreciated. Your wonderful work is always enjoyed, over and over again! This piece is amazing! I particularly like the wiring!!
