Description

This photo was taken at yet another bar in Prague on a day that I didn't actually expect to be there. I wanted to photograph some of the artwork inside...if that's what you could actually call it; I call it a doll on a rotating platform perched on top of a jar of pickles, complete with mood lighting. As I was taking pictures of the...um...art...a complete stranger walked by outside the window and by sheer luck I was able to capture his expression.

Art is very hard to define. The best 'explanation' I've run across is that some people do artistic things; the result may not be 'art' by any usual definition. This object I would call .... um... 'different' which covers a world of meanings. Objectively, I don't think I'd want it in my house.

Love the bemused expression of this guys face.. A wonderful moment in time captured. I like this shot, Chip.. Not too sure about the decoration a'top the pickle jar!! Does it bite ;-) Hugs. Diane.

What is art these days anyway? It is very hard to define and I feel we are in stagnation, recycling works of the past and depending upon the medium, we combine numerous elements of the past into one. It seems the fifties was the end of modern art and then the British invasion with the Beetles and Stones took over, culminating in the late sixties in San Francisco. Since then the art scene has been questionable. Your photograph seems to underscore the perplex nature as to the artist intent, which these days is mostly about 'shock' value. So big cudos to you for capturing this scene. Thank you for sharing. egmont

one of those magic moments you've got to carry your camera with you non-stop. can't agree with Egmont and do not belive we are the last generation on this poor earth. art has always been created but means have changed (plaster to plastic, oils to acril etc). thank you for capturing and sharing the beauty of the moment.
